The Preacher

Pastor Davis and Family

Pastor Davis and Ms. Vicki were married on February 14th, 1981 at the Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Marion, N.C. Soon after their marriage they both submitted to serve the Lord with the rest of their lives. Ms. Vicki was saved that same year under the tabernacle of the McDowell County Campmeeting. On that same night Pastor Davis made the greatest decision since his Salvation and submitted his life to serve God. Soon after that they began their family with the birth of Leah Nicole in 1983. Leah is now married to Josh Helton who is the Youth Director of the church and a fine young preacher. Josh and Leah have two daughters Adaya Grace and Adalin Joy. Then came into their lives Jonathan Gary in 1986. Jonathan is now married to Kelsey and they have one son Jonathan Hayden. Jonathan is being used of God

in preaching around the country, singing and writing music. The third child came in 1990, Matthew Stephen. Matthew is now married to Grace Anna and they are expecting their first child. Matthew is now serving as director of the deaf ministry of Georgetown Baptist Church and preaching as the Lord opens the doors. Their next child was born in 1997. Joshua Lee is their "special needs" child, he has Kabuki Syndrome. Joshua is profoundly deaf with moderate developmental delays. The Lord sent Bethany Grace in 1998 at exactly the right time to help Joshua. Bethany helped Joshua learn some of his basic skills. He learned to crawl, stand and walk by watching her as she developed naturally. Bethany at the age of eleven is already a part of the deaf ministry. In 2003 God allowed us to send one of our children on to Heaven to wait for us in that perfect place of no sickness, sorrow or sadness. The Lord blessed us in 2006 with our 7th child, Anna Lynn. The greatest joy of our Christian experience has been to rear our children and then serve the Lord together.

Pastor Davis and his family came to Georgetown Baptist Church on the first Sunday in April 1992. Shortly after that we began work on the new sanctuary. The congregation had been saving for this project for some time and God allowed us to move in and dedicate the building in 1994. Since that time we have been able to build one addition to the new sanctuary, purchase more land and build an educational and fellowship building that measures 120' x 80'. This property makes it possible to reach the homeless of Asheville as well as a bus ministry that is growing to reach Buncombe county.

As we serve the Lord together from week to week, it is a hunger for the scriptures, a heart for sinners and a hope of the Saviors return that binds us to this work and to each other.
